The 5 Solas
About Me

My name is Brian Clement. I am a retired Naval Officer and Nurse. After a couple of years of settling into retirement, I determined that I want to redeem my time more wisely for the kingdom of Christ. I have walked with the Lord for near 46 years. Prayer and encouraging fellow believers has always had a special place in my heart. Of course He put it there. I finally came to terms with the fact that this is the ministry to His church that He has given me. What a gift!

I have much to share about prayer from saints of old and new, and my own insights. I will never ask for or accept donations. God has graciously provided retirement for my wife and me. If you feel you want to donate, I provided links to other ministries to whom you can give.

This is about prayer and encouragement. There is no mysticism here, or private interpretations. I don't have some inside track to God, or some special secret higher spiritual knowledge. I simply pray His Word as it applies to your request. I will intercede on your behalf to our Beloved Father through Jesus Christ, praying for your supplications, your edification, your sanctification, your peace, and above all, His glory. I will write my prayer response to your request and return it to you. Know this, if I say I'm going to pray, I'm going to pray. I'm not going to say that and just have a passing thought about you. My prayers are not always long, but they are intentional, and even after I send my written prayer back to you, it is not uncommon for the Holy Spirit to bring you to mind and I will lift you up then as well. I can't tell you how many times throughout the day that I pray like Romans 8:26-27 with "groanings too deep for words." I keep an offline document of prayer requests, my responses, and answers to prayer provided to me. I will also share some of my Journal entries with you. I pray they are a blessing and encouragement to you.

I will have much more to share as this site matures. It is my prayer that it will bless you, encourage you, and most of all glorify our Lord, Savior, and God, Jesus.

Prayer Insights

How do you think of prayer? Here are some insights.

Through Jesus, our intercessor, we can boldly approach the throne of God. We can pray any time and anywhere. The Father made the way to enter into to relationship with Him through Christ our Lord alone. Is there any other means by which to develop and nurture a relationship? No. In order to know someone, that person must choose to reveal him or herself to you, and you likewise must choose to reveal yourself to him or her. Here's the beauty of our relationship with YHWH through Christ...as His redeemed child, He already knows us because He is our Creator and Savior. It is we who do not know Him, but He has revealed Himself in Christ through His Word. What a gift! That we would be able to commune with holy YHWH, all made possible through Jesus our Lord and Savior!

All life's events are designed by the provident will of God. As R.C. Sproul once said, "There is not one rouge molecule in the universe."

Prayer teaches us to seek for, agree to, and cooperate with the will of God. It teaches us humility, patience, and meekness in light of His sovereign care for us, His children. It teaches us our profound need of Him, and reveals our desperate weakness in our mortal body. It teaches us to embrace the eternal riches of Christ, and to forsake worldliness. It teaches us where there is bread...Christ; where there is peace...Christ; where there is holiness...Christ; where there is comfort...Christ. It teaches us that it is He that is a work in us for His purpose...that we are HIS workmanship to conform us into the image of Jesus so that He, Jesus, would be glorified in us and us in Him.

The Glory of God. He works everything to manifest His glory, especially hardship, trials, losses, and disappointments.

Of course! Supplications and requests can and should be made (Phil 4:6-7), remembering  that He knows our need even before we ask (Matt 6:8). We must also remember His answer will be one of three - yes, or no, or wait, knowing that His answer will come, and it will further sanctify you and glorify Himself.

My Guide

Scripture is my guide for intercessory prayer, understanding this:

"20  Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or understand, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. (Eph 3:20-2, LSB) "
